Overview

The re-brand for The California Poppy Festival is a fluid hybrid of contemporary and retro design. This can be seen immediately with the typography mixing used in the logo. Radio Grotesque, a sans serif typeface, works like the modern companion to the '70s revived serif typeface Cheltenham. A last the perfect balance of modernism and nostalgic cheer is found in all copy work for the festival by utilizing Gill Sans. A color pallet of vibrant orange hues and Maya blue pay tribute to the California poppy and it's local habitat. A photography treatment is applied to all imagery this includes raised exposure and enhanced green hues. As a result, the imagery embraces the easy-going California lifestyle that the state is known for. These design decisions allow the re-brand for The California Poppy Festival to be optimistic and encourages the community to appreciate the state flower.
